Captain's Day - Headfort Old - 22/9/2018

Captains winner Cormac Foley (left) with Captain Martin Blake presenting.

Our Captains Day competition was held in Headfort (Old Course) on Saturday 22nd September 2018. Previous Captains event was held there in 2016. Thirty eight members and one visitor took the field. Conditions were calm, and overcast with a slight chill early on warming up with late sunshine. The course had been hit with passing storm Ali the previous Thursday leaving lots of debris under trees if you were unlucky enough to find yourself there.

A young Cormac Foley took the honours with 39 points just pipping Anthony Quinn, a previous double Captains winner, on 38 points. Chippy's 2nd spot was confirmed on a count back with 2nd to 5th spots all on 38 points. They were Chippy, Conor Stone, David Lenihan and William Monaghan respectively.

President's Cup Powerscourt - 14/7/2018

Presidents cup winner Gerry McGuire (right) President Bill Hayes presenting.

We returnded to Powerscourt for the President's Cup albeit the West Course this year. Once again we were blessed with fantastic weather given the summer we are having. The only blot on the fine scenery was the rising smoke from a gorse fire on Bray Head. A common feature this summer. Thirty three members enjoyed the pleasant conditions.

Gerry McGuire was top of the heap with 37 points followed in second by our Captain Martin Blake on 35 points. John Kearney took third spot with 34 points.

Category winners were C1 - Dale Duignan, C2 - Jody Corrigan and C3 - Karl Stewart.

Longest drive went to Bernard Duignan with Enda Sweeney nearest the pin. Michael Collins bagged the F9 with Brian Carroll victor on the B9.

Two 2's were carded by the first two today by Gerry and Martin who share the spoils.

We have a bit of a break for the holidays, returning on the September 22nd for the Captain's day in Headford Old.
